The CIEH has refuted claims by a new campaign that smoke-free laws have caused pub closures across the country.
But CIEH policy officer Ian Gray said there was insufficient evidence to back these claims. He said: ‘In advance of the introduction of smoke-free laws around the world the tobacco industry and its surrogates has generated a myth that smoke-free laws result in closures and a reduction in trade. There is no independent evidence of this actually happening anywhere in the world.'
Dictated from his padded cell.

Yeah but loads of people say exactly this. First they deny that pub's are closing and then they deny that it's anything to do with the smoking ban. In their view, it's probably because people "have adopted healthier lifestyles" or something.
This is just a bit more evidence that, along with the Hitler manual on "how to 'help' Jews improve their position in German society", anti-tobacco are using George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty Four as an operating manual:
“The keyword here is blackwhite. Like so many New-speak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary.”
Someone should do an analysis of pubs that have closed. Not that the MSM will take any notice. They'll still keep trotting out the line that it's about the recession despite all evidence to the contrary.
The pubs around here that are closing are nearly all boozers on streets without courtyards or gardens. They can't provide a smoking shelter so their customers are going elsewhere.
And then they wonder why Britain has the highest rate of violence in the EU - higher even than America and South Africa.
People are very angry out there. Ordinary law-abiding citizens, usually placid and easy-going are getting to boiling point.
No wonder with highly-paid idiots spouting this type of garbage.
Dick more bull from the CIEH.
I personally had to carry out some works in the Kitchen of the local enviromental Health officers and it was filty and disgusting.
Funny thing is they seemed oblivious to how bad it was, they should have closed themselses down.
