By all accounts the protest orchestrated by blogger Dick Puddlecote at Stony Stratford was a resounding success, despite the inclement weather.
Even the MEP Nigel Farage took time out to visit Stony Stratford and join in protest.
And Westcoat2 kindly posted some photos of the event today on Flickr:
More news is coming in about the event rapidly this evening so will update whenever possible. Meanwhile you may like to look at a clip from the 1st of this month all about Councillor Bartletts loony ideas.

Well, no, I don't want to 'vent my spleen' at all! - But I know what you mean.
I have seen your comments here and there, but I did not know what your own blog was. Is this your blog? I have saved it to my favourites anyway.
It is only slowly becoming understood that grown ups are not infants. If I might give a specific and very, very important example, it seems that the EU has created a regulation that cigarettes should have a 'strip' in the paper which causes cigarettes to extinguish themselves. I would ask this question: When were we smokers consulted about whether or not we wanted such a strip? Whence did the EU gain the authority to speak for people who enjoy tobacco?
Do you see?
Sorry Junican, I think you have posted on the wrong blog. Have read your comments 'here and there' but have no issue with you and have never even mentioned your name in any comment anywhere.
And yes, this is my blog which I write under the nom de plume of TheBigYin in deference to an organisation that I was a founder member of, Freedom2Choose.
Again I'll reiterate, I know your statements from other sites and have the highest regards.

Oh Happy Day !!
This is like Rosa Parks on the front of the bus. I do hope more comes out soon on how well this protest seems to have gone and the large numbers who showed up. I hope it hits your mainstream over there too and gets good fair coverage.
It's like a cloud has started to lift.
Indeed Anon at 02:52:00 and after 4 years of treacherous lies about the ban this event has lifted my heart when it comes to the fightback about the ban here. We have been having local meetings for a while now but this has put us in the national headlines.
Gosh, BY, that remark about 'venting spleen' was meant to be a little joke! Before I commented, I thought I saw something like 'vent your spleen below' (or something like that), but now I cannot find it. My sense of humour sometimes leaves a lot to be desired - especially in the early hours of the morning.
Likewise, I enjoy reading your comments here and there.
I think that the powers-that-be will have to give way sooner or later. Pressure is building as more and more people (including and especially non-smokers) see where the lies and the persecution are leading us - intolerance and totalitarianism.
No problem Junican, I have read you commenting on other sites and you are always good and give a smokers point of view.
There is indeed the words, and I quote, "Go on, vent your splean! You know you want to." above the comment box so you were not seeing things.
I, for my part, fell asleep under a few cans of beer and in front of my puter to wake up at nearly three am to see your comment. So you can see how my mind was a bit fuggly and I missunderstood.
I'll be glad when I've had enough [beer.]
