Myth: There will be heavy handed enforcement with undercover officers and covert filming
Pro smoking organisations and landlords reasoned that the smoking ban would result in heavy handed enforcement, covert filming and armies of undercover enforcement officers
Source of the claim: BBC and Forest

Never going to happen. Course not.
COUNCIL staff are to use hidden headcams to catch people having a sneaky ciggie in no-smoking zones.
The £700 cameras look just like mobile bluetooth headsets.
But Trading Standards officers will use them to catch smokers and hit them with a £50 fine - and another £100 if they are caught throwing away the fag end.
Four officers will patrol the towns of Ayr, Girvan, Troon, Prestwick, and Maybole.
Furthermore ...
If the project is successful, it could be taken up by local authorities across Scotland.
I make that - BBC & Forest 1 (thousand) v ASH 0
Either ASH were lying or just ineptly deluded, their choice. We look forward to the retraction on their web-site.
NB: This could lead to a series of ASH-myth-busting-busting, so cache the ASH page like I have.

Yet another ASH myth exposed Dick - well done.
How anyone can believe what they state defies all logic.
I've done plenty on my blog already. Like I say, it's like shooting fish in a barrel, all F2C writers should have a go, it really is easy.
Suggest more and we'll have a bash :-)
Oh, I thought councils were having to cut back because of the recession.
What's the betting they'll still be putting in road humps as well?
Obviously the only things that get cut are essential services.
Give the lying fuckers an inch.....
Well spotted.
The fact that they are spying on people does not surprise me one bit.
What does surprise me is that ASH would even bother denying that the smoking ban would be enforced by fair means or foul.
I saw their 'myth' bustin' page many moons ago. Tis' time to kick some arse here starting with myth 1) "Pro smoking groups claimed that the smokefree legislation would be bad for business and we would lead to many pubs closing down. The evidence to date from notable pub groups is that the smoking ban has had 'little impact' upon their sales." Yeah, fookin' right you jumped up arseholes!
This is a bit old now but I believe it still applies:
Myths and reality revisited
Brilliant it is too, Chris. The best bit about ASH's web page is the fact that it keeps on giving.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to put it up in the first place was a bit stupid. The fact it is still there is a Godsend for a plethora of up-to-date articles like the one above.
The ASH page is a handy reference point for continually debunking their lies. :-)
