They have lost a lot of footfall for many reasons during the last few years, including the pre ban era. In reality, now most smokers simply do not visit pubs as regularly and perhaps spend less money when they do. This has impacted on some non smokers, who also find find pubs a tad dull. Smoker or not, pro or anti, the fact is that the industry is on its knees and, unless there is a significant change of heart, the trend will continue. Frankly, I'm almost past caring.
